North-East England startups sought for latest Ignite pre-accelerator programme

by Startacus Admin

North-East of England early-stage entrepreneurs and startups take note! Ignite’s 12-week, funded, pre-accelerator programme is back open for applications. Read on for all the details you will need.
Open to companies based, or willing to relocate to, or with a material presence in the North East (County Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear), the 12-week Ignite programme includes regular workshops, mentoring and support, a £15k convertible loan from Northstar (there is a programme fee to be paid from this of £5k, leaving a net investment of £10k), desk space in the Gateshead Baltic Quarter for the 12 week programme and access to the Ignite alumni and mentor network.
With 20 places on the programme up for grabs, Ignite are looking for people and teams, who’ve got the ambition to build a world-changing commercial business and ideally have the skills and experience in place to develop and launch an MVP or prototype of their idea.
Tapping into the North-East’s world-class expertise in data, ageing and immersive tech, Ignite are keen to see applications from companies that are finding new and innovative ways to use immersive tech, tacking industry challenges in sports & entertainment, work & industry, education, and health & ageing. However all tech startup related applications will be considered!
Each successful applicant must incorporate as a limited company (if they haven’t already) and be based in the North East of England (County Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear).
Teams accepted to work with Ignite are eligible for benefits from some fantastic companies, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Digital Ocean, GitHub, SendGrid, Nexmo, Autopilot, Stripe and more.
Ignite have a strong history working in both the pre-accelerator and accelerator space, with programmes currently in the North-East and an Ignite team also over in Northern Ireland, coordinating similar programmes.
Ignite alumni Receptive, were just this month acquired by US company Pendo, and many of Ignite’s first and second 2.0 accelerator cohort, have gone onto raise investment - one very recent alumni example being death-tech startup Guardian Angel, who raised just shy of £500k.
Ben Fielding, Co-founder & CEO of Fair Custodian, a startup that is currently on the Ignite Accelerator programme, and who took part in the pre-accelerator previously, said:
“I genuinely couldn't recommend the Ignite Pre-Accelerator more if you're in the early stages of starting a company! It's an absolutely fantastic chance to learn and grow.”
For full pre-accelerator programme criteria & eligibility and to of course apply, visit the Ignite site where you can read over all the key details.
Applications are open until 28th June, and just involves a short application form. Good luck!
