New Platform Aims to Address the Gender Funding Gap

by Startacus Admin

“Discover and invest in the UK’s best female-led businesses”
The gender pay gap has been well documented in the media for years and has been at the centre of much attention, discussion, and debate.
Recent studies have found that globally just 10% of venture capital funding is directed towards female founders. This figure isn’t particularly helpful, given the sheer size of The World and the particular nuances of individual nations, but few could argue against the benefits of helping to create a more level playing field on a smaller scale.
With the aim of challenging this imbalance in the UK, Debbie Wosskow, and Anna Jones have just launched AllBright Crowd, a platform which will discover and fund some of the best female entrepreneurs in the country.
The pair certainly appear equal to the task with Debbie being the founder of Love Home Swap, and Anna currently heading up Hearst Magazines UK.
But rather than simply creating a platform on which female founders can access venture capital, they have taken a more holistic approach to proceedings by offering female founders resources and learning Via the AllBright Academy, which will boost investor readiness and ensure that the best startups are given the best support possible.
AllBright Crowd may also prove to be very popular with investors, giving them access to previously untapped entrepreneurial talent, as well as expert support on mitigating risks through tax breaks.
Co-founder, Debbie Wosskow, had this to say about the project “There is some exceptional female business talent in the UK just waiting to be discovered and accelerated. I’ve been on the journey they are making and understand acutely the difference accessing the right funding and support can make, as do our network of angel investors.
“AllBright delivers on two fronts – not only do we get to ‘give back’ investing in and sharing our knowledge with the next generation, but there is also a real financial opportunity for our investors to benefit from the untapped asset class of some of the UK’s best female entrepreneurs.
At Startacus HQ we are in favour of anything which helps to encourage entrepreneurship across the UK, so we reckon this is a great idea.
Why not join the Startacus community of Startups and founders? It’s totally free and will give you access to loads of benefits such as member deals, ticket giveaways, as well as the opportunity to showcase your business, and connect with other entrepreneurs.
