Now in its 5th year, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, now officially the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards, acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of British entrepreneurs and businesses in Great Britain.

Now, with increased support from NatWest, the organisers have been able to extend the coverage of the Awards across the UK for the 2017 programme with ceremonies now being held in five cities – Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and London – compared with two in previous years.

Creator of the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca Russell, believes that it is vital that British entrepreneurs are championed. She explained: “Entrepreneurs inject competition into markets, create jobs and spur innovation. In many cases their businesses change the ways in which we live and work. These awards are different because they celebrate the story behind these people – true entrepreneurs are as much about their story as they are about their balance sheet.”

Gordon Merrylees, Head of Entrepreneurship for NatWest, said: “Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the UK Economy. There are more businesses in the UK than ever before and it is clear that entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. NatWest is thrilled to be supporting these Awards again this year and allowing other UK cities to celebrate their entrepreneurs.”

With 11 award catagories up for grabs, from Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year, to Family Business Entrepreneur of the Year, through to Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year, there's awards a plenty for entrepreneurs to consider applying for.

There's more judges than we've ever seen for a programme of awards, but with the 2017 appearing in 5 cities, there might just need to be an extended range of judges in place. Judges include Jeff Lynn of Seedrs, David Buttress of Just Eat, Hermione Way - Startup star and now brand consultant, Bianca Miller Cole of The B Group, Cally Russell of Mallzee, Martin Bryant of Tech North, Lucy-Rose Walker of E-Sparks, Rajeeb Dey MBE now of Learnerbly and ex Dragons Den judge James Caan CBE (and that honestly is just to name a few).

2017 applications are open until August 18th. Click here to find out more and to apply. Good luck.
