My Top Tips for Entrepreneurs - Tips from Inder Phull

by Startacus Admin
Last week Startacus Self Starter of the Week and Startacus member Inder Phull told us all his self starter story to date. This week Inder returns with four of the top tips he has learned to date and wants to share with fellow entrepreneurs...
1) Understand your skills and weaknesses, this is most important when developing a team. You need people who complement your weaknesses and bring a different perspective into problems you are faced with.
2) Be the industry, it is easy to start a business. It is hard to do well in that business, make sure you understand your industry and do whatever it takes to become an expert. Your knowledge is going to be the difference between success and failure in most cases, so make sure you know everything there is to know about your business model and that of your competitors. If possible, get experience working with a startup in the industry you are most interested in, you never know where the contacts and experience will take you. It is all a journey remember? Use platforms like LinkedIn to find mentors and potential clients and network like crazy!!!
3) Use the tools available to you, when you can make your business more efficient using tools such as Podio why would you chose not to? Project management software is most important for us because we work on tons of different projects with numerous people. Using a good collaboration tool can make all the difference, you can read more about that here..(http://krpt.co.uk/knowledge/business/2013/09/krpt-business-technology-tips-for-young-entrepreneurs/)
4) Have fun with it, if you are just starting out, you are going to be working much later than you thought if you want it to work. Have fun with your business and experiment with different ideas and strategies. It is easy to get caught up in a corporate mindset but it is the rebellious, disruptive side of our generation that will develop the most innovative businesses. Don't forget why you started the business and if you don't remember take a few steps back and figure out your long-term goals, it will make more sense when you understand your own mindset.
