Mouldbox - automating the design and manufacture of composite tooling

by Startacus Admin
Mouldbox, the startup that's on a mission to disrupt the manufacture of composite tooling using applied AI

Oxford-based startup Mouldbox are specialists in the design and manufacture of tooling for carbon fiber and fiberglass parts. They make patterns and moulds, and deliver them ready for material lay-up.
Their unique automation technology can help you take a part from design to reality quickly and cost-effectively. Mouldbox uses machine learning in its process to automate instantaneous quotation upon review of your part design, as well as the design and manufacture of composite tooling.
Of course, Mouldbox’s leadership has a combined 15 years of experience and specialist knowledge to add to this machine learning, ensuring that they produce only accurate and high quality products.
Mouldbox has its own R&D, design, and manufacturing facility in Oxford, but further reducing costs to the customer, they also have a verified supplier network consisting of hundreds of machine- and man-hours internationally, allowing them to utilise the latest technologies and accommodate fast lead times for your projects.
Their capabilities include CFRP moulds, aluminium or 3D-printed moulds, and tooling board moulds, all of which we completely understand.
In 2018, Mouldbox received a grant and backing from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, we think there will be more to come. Although this platform might not be doing something that most people think about, the next time you are sitting in a plane, you might take a minute to be glad that its carbon fibre and fibreglass parts were created with a high quality mould!
