by Startacus Admin
According to recent findings, 20% of women and 10% of men suffer from antenatal or post-natal depression
/anxieties and 23% of women who died between six weeks and one year after pregnancy died from mental health related causes.
However research also shows that 80-90% of sufferers recover with early intervention.
Early intervention being the key here.
Step forward Moment Health, a new Belfast tech startup that's on a mission to prioritise maternal mental health and provide new parents with the tools and knowledge they need to sustain good mental wellbeing – from pregnancy through to parenthood.
Providing a digital solution that offers early intervention for maternal mental health illnesses, Moment Health have built products that include a website, app and online community that aim to provide better access to mental health resources for the world’s mums and dads.
Connecting new mothers and their families with the tools and knowledge they need to sustain good mental health and recover from illness, Moment Health's analytics-based tech aims to provides valuable and accurate information, allowing people and their clinicians to take the right steps towards recovery. Parents can keep track of their mental health, and only a few simple taps is all it takes to complete a clinical survey regularly used by medical professionals to help diagnose PND, and receive practical support.
Parents can also keep a journal of their emotions, with the emotion diary delivering weekly reports to parents about how they’re feeling and if in need of support, parents can find the resources that are geographically convenient to them.
With accolades in 2017 such as Top 40 Under 40 Northern Ireland, Belfast Top 50 Business award and Young Business Ambassador Award, Founder Nuala Murphy, is a frequent participant in expert panel line-ups across the corporate sector and an avid champion of female health and equality, demonstrated through her leadership as part of the global Lean In movement, a nonprofit founded by Sheryl Sandberg to empower all women to achieve their ambitions.

We look forward to seeing how this tech-for-good startup further develops and congratulate Nuala for all her endeavours to date.
