Crowdfunding success for HUN which will help it increase distribution across the UK, expand into new global territories and develop new products

wRIve3OQMillennial canned wine brand, HUN, has exceeded its £400,000 equity crowdfunding target on the day of its public launch and within less than 72 hours since it privately launched on Friday 22nd Jan.

Since going live to the public, the crowdfunding campaign received backing from 113 investors, raising in excess of £447k or 111% of the target. HUN plans to overfund to £600k with 40 days left of the campaign.

HUN is offering a 13% equity stake, with the business valued at £4m pre money. The funding will be used to increase distribution across the UK, expand into new global territories and for new product development.

HUN launched in April 2020 by entrepreneur Mark Woollard with a Board of Directors consisting of drinks industry leaders: Waitrose CEO, James Bailey; former Brewdog CEO and Red Bull UK MD, Andy Shaw;  former Red Bull Racing F1 CMO, Dominik Mitsch; and CCO of Banijay Group, Owain Walbyoff. HUN has also received private investment from the former Formula 1 driver-turned-presenter David Coulthard.

Despite launching in the midst of the first lockdown, HUN has gone from strength to strength and is at the forefront of the UK canned wine market, having launched in Tesco stores nationwide and becoming one of the first canned wines to join the ‘invite only’ Amazon Vendor seller programme.

With a mission to make wine inclusive as well as challenge the elitist connotations associated with the category, HUN quickly became the most followed canned wine brand in the UK with 20k+ fans across Instagram, Facebook & Twitter. a

ZQVBAw2w.HUN founder and director, Mark Woollard, said:

“It’s incredibly encouraging to see our crowdfunding campaign exceed its target  so quickly and on the day that it opens up to the public. There is huge excitement from investors not only in the HUN brand, but also the wider canned wine market, which is set to grow exponentially thanks to its convenience and eco-credentials that really resonate with millennial wine drinkers”.

All of HUN’s wines are vegan, fairtrade and sourced from the renowned Stellenbosch region in South Africa.
