Metro Bank opens call for participants for second Magic Makers programme

by Startacus Admin
Metro Bank seeks startups and scaleups with a focus on customer experience, community banking, optimisation of systems & data and sustainability for its second innovation lab.
Startups and scaleups with solutions and technologies that could innovate the banking sector - this is for you!
Metro Bank has just launched a call for applications for Metro Bank Magic Makers, its second accelerator programme, once again delivered in partnership with corporate innovation specialists, L Marks. Its aim is to find innovative solutions to help the bank further enhance its customer experience and improve key aspects of its operations; everything from its community banking and sustainability through to the optimisation of its systems and data.
The inaugural Magic Makers programme in 2021 saw three startups, namely Surfly, Solidatus and Poly AI being selected, each with innovative solutions to help transform the Bank’s customer experience and its operational efficiency.
The range of transformative technologies developed by the programme included a co-browsing technology designed to enhance customer resolution, a digital blueprint that enables essential data insights and transparency, and a super human voice assistant able to respond to natural conversation from customers and complex requests. Having been tested successfully, they are all now in the process of being implemented.
For this year’s programme, applications are being sought from startups and scaleups that are innovating in one of the following areas:
Making life easier for customers
Metro Bank wants to continue to elevate their customer experience by providing a service that helps their customers manage their money seamlessly. They’re looking for solutions that make it easier for customers to bank with them, whether that’s in-store online or between the two.
Becoming the UK’s best community bank
With a mission to be the UK’s best community bank, they’re seeking solutions to help them do just that - from giving back to communities and helping small businesses succeed – through to how they connect customers to each other and provide extra support for customers that really need it.
Optimising systems and data
Recognising the need to optimise how they capture and analyse internal and external data, they’re keen to find solutions that can help the bank react quickly, “join the dots” on customer and colleague feedback, in addition to new ways to automate their processes behind-the-scenes.
Sustainable and responsible banking
Being socially responsible, sustainable and ethical is of huge importance to Metro Bank. They’re seeking solutions from startups and scaleups that can help them become more sustainable, both in terms of how they work and how they service their customers.
Startups or scaleups with solutions that don’t align with one of these areas but which would innovate how the bank supports its customers can also apply for the Wildcard category.
Throughout the course of the 10-week programme, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with a host of senior leaders from Metro Bank and external experts provided by L Marks. They’ll receive dedicated support to test and validate their customised solutions and take their innovations to the next level. The programme will culminate with a Demo Day in November where participants will showcase all that they have achieved through the programme as well as present ideas and proposals for a commercial relationship with Metro Bank.
Interested in applying?
Applications are now open and must be submitted before 23:59 GMT on Sunday 19th June 2022. You’ll also find further details on the programme via the Metro Bank Magic Makers website.
Best of luck to all who apply!
