Love your Local Market

by Startacus Admin
Here at Startacus we love hearing about innovative projects and initiatives which are trying to improve and regenerate our beleaguered high streets and towns, so when we first heard about the Love your Local Market campaign, we knew it’d be something we’d love. And we do.
Now in its second year, Love your Local Market is a national campaign which aims to showcase all sorts of markets across the UK and highlight and promote just how important a role they play in our local communities.
Over 400 local markets took part last year and it’s hoped that even more participate during this year’s event which is due to take place between 15th - 29th May. One of the most interesting aspects of the whole initiative is the fact that it is helping create a whole new generation of market traders. Last year, markets up and down the country offered pitches and stalls to fledgling startups and entrepreneurs to let them test out market trading and help them showcase their wares - something which was so successful that it’s being done again this year.
As well as helping boost new startups, the entire initiative is of course primarily concerned with generating a real buzz about local markets and the impact that they can have on our town centres and communities in general.
If you are a local market trader, you can get involved with the national campaign by downloading the Love your Local Market toolkit - it’s packed with all sorts of advice, tips and guidance on putting on your own events as well as testimonials from market traders who took part in last year’s campaign.
And for those of you who’d love the chance to test out your startup at a local market, keep checking the website for all the latest opportunities for doing just that. Of course, if your local market isn’t yet involved - why not do your bit and try and get them on board too!
Do keep checking the LYLM website for all the latest, news, happenings and events where you are.
There’s a lot of things we love about local markets - the vibrancy, the character, the people and the variety, to name but a few. We’ve gotta now add the Love your Local Market campaign to that list. We heart it. Lots.
