Lottie - the startup using digital innovation to connect elderly people to the UK’s best care homes

by Startacus Admin
The people’s care company - Lottie is a startup on a mission to empower care seekers and lead the global transformation to modern and sustainable care
Looking for a care home is a stressful process, and a long one to boot. It has to be good for the resident, obviously, not too far away, and offer all sorts of activities, and generally be somewhere they want to be. On top of this, we hear terrible stories about some care homes and we become worried and paranoid about every one that we look into, and start to wonder if it’s really as good as it looks.
What we need is someone who knows what they are doing to take a look at the homes we’re thinking about and let us know just how good they are.
London-based online booking startup Lottie is taking the worry and complexity out of finding a care home. On the surface, it works much like a booking service to find the right hotel, first choosing the location, and then scrolling through all of the offerings, checking their unique benefits and features, and comparing prices. But the benefit of Lottie is that every care home listed is of the highest quality, handpicked and vetted by their team of care experts based on their care quality, home culture, and ethical practices. You will only see the best homes on the platform, leaving you to simply work out which of the best is the best for you.
As well as simply browsing, you can specify your needs and wants and the platform will pick out the best options. You can book a free consultation with one of the startup’s care experts to really understand your needs and how your chosen homes meet them, and then you can book a viewing at your top choices.
When it comes to choosing the home and embarking on the payment process, you can run through all of the optional extras that the home offers, such as outdoor activities and classes, choosing which their new resident will want to participate in, and the price will update in real time so that there are no surprises.
Recently, Lottie announced that it had raised £500,000 in a pre-seed round led by founder and CEO of Monzo, Tom Blomfield; founder of Lendable, Victoria van Lennep; founder of Social Chain and Government Adviser, Dominic McGregor; founder of AccuRx, Jacob Haddad; and Accel.
