Are you fed up of clockwatching and wishing your time away until the weekend? It's a sad truth that many adults feel trapped in their current roles and find it difficult to work a job that they have no passion for or future in. This is why more of us than ever before are deciding to take the first step towards entrepreneurship, and following our business dreams.

Being your own boss, running by your own schedule, controlling your own profits, building a brand and never missing a school dance recital or play are just some of the benefits of becoming a successful entrepreneur. So, what’s stopping you?

If you’re struggling for business ideas, then we’ve got you covered. Read on for some solo-business ideas that are perfect for budding entrepreneurs.

Don't forget your business tools...

Before we go further, remember that starting a business from scratch means having all the right tools at your disposal. From the likes of ContentCal for social media management and advice around content creation, Mailchimp for digital marketing and newsletters, through to Asana to manage your projects and tasks, it's imperative that you use the tools that a part-automate some of the tasks that otherwise will take up more of your time.

Now, back to those solo-entrepreneur ideas…

Blogger

Do you have excellent writing skills? Do you have a gift for engaging readers with relatable and engrossing content? If so, then becoming a blogger could be for you. Writing blog posts and creating good content doesn't come easy, it's incredibly time-consuming but if you work hard and build a following you could end up working with brands and be paid for promoting sponsored content.

Selling physical products

Buying items wholesale and selling them online through a dedicated website or through social media is a simple, yet effective business model that works. However, it is one that requires a considerable amount of money to get started. Website and domain fees, marketing strategies as well as stock, storage and postage and shipping costs. You'll need to focus on sending traffic to your website with strong online campaigns and concentrated social media marketing.

Baking products

Got a flair for baked goods? Perhaps you have a niche USP such as vegan baking or gluten-free sweet treats? Whether you like cake decorating for special occasions or selling outrageous treat boxes, setting up a bakery from home is pretty straightforward. You’ll need to build a portfolio of your talents and market your business as much as possible to make headway in this crowded market.

An event planner

Weddings, birthdays, business events – if you love keeping things organised and you have strong communication skills then setting up as an event planner could be the perfect vocation for you. You’ll need to be able to listen to the needs of your clients, negotiate with various venues and vendors and be able to run an event smoothly, even when things go wrong!

And finally, a personal trainer

It's safe to say that the world of fitness is quite crowded. However, if you think a little outside the box there's no reason why you can't stand apart from other personal trainers in the field. Perhaps you could work with post/prenatal women, children's fitness, yoga, pilates or outdoor boot camps!
