London Cyber Hackathon Open Call – APPLY NOW!
Great news for all developers out there! CyberHack 2015 is now welcoming applications for its London hackathon, which will be taking place over three days from 27th to 29th of June!
A hackathon (for those you are unaware) is an event in which a huge range of interested folks including computer programmers, software developers, project managers, entrepreneurs, and startup enthusiasts collaborate intensively on solving a challenge by building a tech solution. They use the three days to bring it as close to a useable product as they possibly can.
They are extremely intensive events testing everyone in attendance to their limit as teams battle it out to create a product with the power to impress judges and hopefully win prizes!
CyberHack 2015
This is a three day free hackathon that challenges attendees to improve the security of financial information and services for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and technologies related to the Internet of Things.
Over the course of the three days you will collaborate intensively with others to create workable solutions to some of enterprises most pressing and current difficulties.
You will have the chance to:
- Work on real-world challenges posed by partners, including NatWest.
- Meet leading partners from GCHQ, TechUK, Cyber Connect and others
- Work with interesting APIs from ProgrammableWeb
- Meet successful and experienced tech entrepreneurs from the Cyber Security world
- Engage with experts who will provide mentoring, tutorials and expert advice and help you take your developments to commercial application during and at the end of the 3 day event
There will be a real ‘coming together’ of enterprise and technology as the event seeks to provide entrepreneurial training and mentoring to help developers consider the commercial implications and opportunities for their solutions.
The hackathon will culminate in a pitch event where you will present your developments to an audience of partners, industry leaders and investors.
The Prizes
No hackathon would be complete without a few prizes to spur teams on in their quest and of course CyberHack is no different! Up to £5K is available in the 3 main areas under exploration:
- First prize for best overall development - £3K
- First prize for best design and user experience- £1K
- First prize for best ‘go-to-market’ strategy - 1K
To add a little extra layer of motivation there will also be a host of substantial prizes from the event’s corporate partners.
Who should apply?
Anyone with relevant skills and experience, who is interested in tackling the major issues of cyber security, is welcome to apply! The hackathon is now open to all (not just students) and this includes not only coders and developers, but a whole range of skilled and ambitious people such as designers, UX and UI interface specialists, scientists, professionals, writers, seasoned entrepreneurs, startup junkies - or just people with a really great idea to share!
For all the info you will need, including an application form, pop over to the CyberHack website.
Who’s organising the event?
There’s quite a list of big names and influential organisations involved in the delivery of the hackathon, so it’s certainly an opportunity not to be missed!

Good luck to all!
