Locate a Locum set for a healthy turnover

Belfast Startup, Locate a Locum is an online platform, connecting pharmacists with employers across the UK...
The National Health Service has been a point of concern for a while, and it only grows more so as time goes on; the high cost of running such a vital system and the cuts it constantly receives do not exactly mesh. So a startup that can save the NHS £105 per temporary pharmacy staff member is nothing to scoff at….
Step forward, Belfast-based MedTech startup Locate a Locum, a platform to connect pharmacies with locums all across the UK and Ireland. The service is free for locums to use, and the pharmacy pays the locum directly, cutting out the sometimes crazy fees medical recruitment agencies charge the NHS and even sometimes the locum (which can be a bitter pill for them to swallow). In terms of monetizing the business, pharmacies pay Locate a Locum a services fee for use of the platform - simples.
Locate a Locum say the pharmacy’s side of the process takes 3 clicks and 60 seconds, hopefully meaning little old ladies aren’t left waiting for their prescriptions while the pharmacist desperately looks for a locum.
On the locum side, they promise the website is also fast and simple to use, making applying for shifts less stressful. A basic search will give them a list of available shifts, dates, locations, and pay rates for them to quickly find the best match for their needs and apply with a click.
An Entrepreneurial Spark alumnus, Locate a Locum was valued at £1.5m in its first year, before it even went for its second round of funding, and already works with over 8000 pharmacies, including big names like Boots, Well, and Rowlands.
‘The idea for Locate a Locum was born initially out of a desire to help secure locum work for myself. [...] I saw my idea as a solution that could help to save tens of millions of pounds to the public purse every year.’ - Jonathon Clarke, Founder
Helping people get work, helping pharmacies serve the public, and saving the National Health Service a lot of money in the process: we reckon this is one startup, both the pharmacies and the locums will not get sick of…(sorry).
