Koru Kids - Innovation in childcare

by Startacus Admin

Koru Kids - the London based startup that's providing the perfect childcare solution for modern families
with affordable, convenient after-school and nanny care.
Raising children is not an easy task from any angle. While many new parents and expecting parents-to-be think about things such as whether they are in a good school district, whether they are making enough money to support a child, and how many holidays and good sleeps can be crammed in before it arrives, there are plenty of other things that slip through the cracks. One of these is what happens when your child starts school, but there are so many hours a tiny, new person can take before they have to go home.
No school finishes at the same time as adults finish work, and younger children finish earlier still. How many jobs out there allow parents to pop out to pick up the children and bring them in to the office for the rest of the day? We haven’t counted, but we’re going to hazard a guess that it isn’t many. The answer, other than certain self-employed jobs or unemployment, is paying someone to look after your child between the times that you are able to. This can become hugely expensive, but it can also feel like there is no other choice.
Koru Kids is that other choice! The London-based startup is dedicated to finding you a good after-school carer for your children and making the whole process simple and convenient
Nannies are handpicked by Koru Kids from university student-applicants. The rigorous screening process includes interviews and references, and only 10% of applicants make the cut. These 10% go on to attend a ‘Nanny Boot Camp’, which includes paediatric first aid training. In short, Koru Kids is determined to give you only the best after-school nannies. A flat rate of £12 per hour includes all ongoing paperwork being taken care of for you, enhanced DBS checks, taxes, wages, and Koru Kids’ own fee.
For children under 3, Koru Kids also offers a Nanny Share service, wherein families come together to put their children in the care of a single nanny, saving them all money and giving the hardworking nanny a pay rise.
Recently, Koru Kids raised £3.5m in funding from an oversubscribed seed funding round including Forward Partners, Albion Capital, JamJar Investments. The startup is growing 30% monthly, and with good reason - any startup that helps with this expensive and vital aspect of raising children is going to go far.
