Koor - the app that helps choral singers improve their technique and musicianship

The lowdown on Koor, the innovative app that lets choirs practice together - even when they are physically apart...
Choir singing is a more common pastime, part-time job, or full-time job than most of us would think. There are an estimated 100 million choirs in the world, be they church choirs or backing choirs for orchestral pieces, pop music, rock, death metal, or those bunches of people that arrive at your door every Christmas.
Of course, at the moment, it is as difficult for choirs as anyone else, because a choir is, by its very nature, something of a gathering. This means practicing is a lot harder. They can use Skype or Zoom or whatever the group call rage is these days, but lag and low quality sound get in the way. So what else can be done?
Bristol-based conductor Simon Capet has created Koor, the solution in free app form, created to help keep choral singers in practice and lessen the hardship of isolation that plenty of people feel.
The app allows choral singers to practice with pitch-perfect professional singers, so you can either have them as accompaniment or learn from them to get your own singing just right, using their pitch, rhythm, and correct pronunciation; how to shape vowels and phrases, and where to breathe. In the settings, you are able to turn off certain voices or change the volume, allowing you take anyone’s place, and practice however you want.
Koor had a seed funding round on Seedrs in December, and surpassed its funding goal, ultimately raising £123,117, which was used of course not only to develop the software but to hire recording spaces and the musicians and singers needed to bring the necessary quality to the app.
And now, you can download the app for free for any smart device!
Koor, we liking the sound if it.
