Kodama - 3D creation and interaction made easy

by Startacus Admin
Kodama - The innovative French startup that's making 3D creation easier than ever before with their 3D game system that offers everybody a new way to interact with screens.

Earning second place in last year’s upSTART at Digital DNA, French startup Kodama has created a product that does just that. Kodama is designed with children aged 5 to 12 in mind; however, it may be slightly disingenuous to call this a smart toy, because it has potential applications beyond children’s play and education.
Part of the appeal of the product is that there is a developer community that you can join, download the SDK (software development kit), and create your own applications. From manipulation of CGI and VFX to...wherever your imagination reaches its limit. With the ever-evolving virtual reality and augmented reality landscapes, why settle for faux-3D when you can put on a headset and create in real 3D space? The potential for Kodama is limitless.
For now, Kodama will have apps available: Campfire and Crayon 3D.
Crayon 3D speaks for itself - it is for drawing and painting in 3D. Campfire is a fun tool for children to express themselves and tell stories.
Called ‘a Pixar do-it-yourself’ by Wired, Campfire allows children to easily make animated films. As an educational tool, Campfire helps with literacy through storytelling, and with spacial awareness and motor function.
As well as coming second at upSTART 17, Kodama was listed as the James Dyson International Top 20, and was shortlisted for the Stars Reimagine Education awards. Now back from Silicon Valley’s BoostVC Accelerator, Kodama are bringing their product to market this summer! We look forward to seeing how Kodama further develops.
And speaking of upSTART at Digital DNA, it’s back for its third year this June! Head over here for more information and to apply.
