JustTip - the future of tipping is here

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on JustTip, the Dublin-based fintech startup that's developed an innovative solution to change the way we tip
More and more, we are turning to cashless options to pay for everything, particularly in response to COVID-19 fears. Even at the till, the options aren’t always cash or card anymore, with some places offering their own apps through which you can pay with multiple online options.
The downside to this move away from cash is that tips are being left less and less often. Particularly in parts of the world where service staff actually rely quite heavily on tips because their employers won’t pay them properly, this is not a great development. So in order to keep those tips up, we need something to go along with this move to cashless.
Dublin-based fintech startup JustTip has seen this need, and has created a tipping platform to help ensure that staff don’t miss out on those tips. It’s a very simple and quick platform - venues place a compact device at the till, which the customer can simply tap their card against to transfer a tip, the amount of which can be changed between €2, €3, €5, and €10 at the touch of a button.
For the venue, it costs €99 to install the device, and then a recurring €1.50 per day and 5% of every transaction. The platform comes with a comprehensive dashboard to show you tipping history and analytics so that you can easily keep track and see the benefit of using JustTip. So far, cafés using the platform have reported significant increases in tipping, having previously moved to a cashless system due to the pandemic.
The typically American system of tipping is becoming more widespread elsewhere, and so a startup that combats one of the negatives of a move to an increasingly more cashless society and allows us to tip regardless of whether we’re carrying cash is a great benefit, and we look forward to seeing more of these machines by tills near us!
