Joos - the on-the-move power bank rental startup

by Startacus Admin
Worried about your phone running out of charge when you're out and about? London-based startup Joos is on a mission to help with its power bank rentals
It seems that as technology moves forward and becomes more reliable, more ubiquitous, and more advanced, device batteries just get worse and worse. We all know what it’s like to run out of battery while we’re on the go, usually just as it becomes most vital to have access to our phone. Power banks exist, of course, and we can give our battery a boost from that. Assuming we remembered to charge it and also bring it, which is unlikely.
Do you even know where your power bank is? We don’t. But after a year of mostly sitting in one room and not needing to worry about our phones running out of charge, we’re gradually going back to normal, and it will once again become a nuisance. So what’s the best solution?
London-based startup Joos has upgraded the idea of a power bank and made it communal. The idea is simple and handy: partners will operate power bank stations, where the user can simply download an app and register, find the nearest participating venue, and pick up a charged power bank to recharge on the go.
When you have charged your device, you simply return the power bank to any of the participating venues, where it recharges and it’s individual slot is quarantined for long enough to ensure that any viral agents break down before the next person takes it. The power bank will have every cable needed for any current phone, so anyone can use them.
The Joos stations are completely free for businesses to host, and the increase in foot traffic has already proven to increase sales, especially if the user decides to sit down for a coffee while their phone charges. As the only Apple-certified provider, Joos provides that extra bit of peace of mind to the user that what they are charging their phones with is safe and approved, and those venues installing the stations can be sure they are providing something safe to their customers.
The startup’s most recent rollout includes Hammerson shopping centres, The Bullring & Grand Central, Metrocentre, and The Trafford Centre. In addition, Joos stations are now installed at the Liverpool airport and will be rolled out to more transport centres in coming months. Joos has secured a number of partnerships so that they can roll out quickly throughout the country, so we look forward to seeing their logo everywhere soon!
