Joii - petcare and veterinary advice made easy

by Startacus Admin
Joii is an app that is giving pet owners access to affordable, remote veterinary care advice...
Veterinary care can be very expensive and stressful to the animal. Sometimes, the trip to the vet turns out to have been unnecessary, or the issue is a small one that could have been identified without a physical examination.
We have written previously about startups such as Arthronica and Ping An Good Doctor, which allow people to receive medical analysis, examination, diagnosis, and even prescriptions remotely, without ever going near an actual doctor (less shady than we’ve just made it sound), so why can’t we have something similar for our pets?
What a coincidence, you’ll think, that today’s startup has just that something! Leeds-based startup Vet-AI has developed Joii, a platform to make petcare more accessible, more affordable and more convenient.
It uses automated reasoning, learning, and predictions of animal health conditions to diagnose issues your pet is having based on what it sees through your phone’s camera and by cross-checking the symptom checker. When this isn’t enough, you can make a free video call with a nurse clinic. From there, you can have video calls with a vet and, if it still comes to a physical visit to the vet, you can get discounted treatment for your pet.
Leading up to launch, Vet-AI raised £1 million in investment and has been shortlisted for various awards. In 2019, the startup was one of the winners of Tech Nation’s Rising Stars awards, won in the Leeds Digital Festival awards, and received top honours in the Innovation and runner-up in the Newcomer categories of the Yorkshire Business Masters awards.
Pet owners care a great deal about their animals, and an app that helps them to more easily and affordably stay on top of those animals’ health and wellbeing is sure to go far....
