Ideal Flatmate - flat sharing made easy

by Startacus Admin

Proptech startup, Ideal Flatmate, makes the process of finding flatmates an easier pursuit, thanks to a 20-question survey and a matching algorithm that aims to find the best matches for you.
Flatsharing is increasingly popular in a world where pay increase never comes close to matching house price increase. It’s a way to live in a location you otherwise would be unable to afford, a way to be independent without the crushing debt. You could make friends for life, but what happens if you find yourself with nightmare flatmates?
Ideal Flatmate was set up to make the process of finding people to share a home, and therefore a big portion of life, with. Use the site to find a flatmate, find a room, or add a room to let. By answering some questions, the startup’s matching algorithm will find the best matches for you to look through and chat with. 20-question survey and an algorithm
The platform acts like a social network, allowing you to add people to a group and have conversations with potential flatmates. You can also look through the listings without answering any questions, to see what jumps out at you.
Founded by Tom Gatzen and Rob Imonikhe, last July, the proptech startup received £500k in seed funding, double their initial target, and just a few weeks ago closed its second funding round, taking total investment into the platform up to £1.25m.
Since its launch in January ‘17, the site has reached an average of 150,000 monthly users, more than 50,000 people have registered as a flathunter on the site and over 12,000 properties have been listed.
A slate of developments are now in progress to fine-tune the algorithm based on initial testing and to deliver greater value for users.
“The next stage of progression is an exciting one for the business as we deploy our growth strategies over the coming months. This funding round will help us continue to build a strong team and fast-track our drive to onboard more users,” said Imonikhe.
With registrations all set up to continue to grow, that funding will be essential in expanding the business and enhancing the user experience.
