How to Market Your Popup Shop...continued
Some General Marketing Ideas
-
Are there any businesses in the area that you could approach with regards to mutual recommendations? For example you could team up with a
local coffee shop and offer 10% discounts to your customers and in turn the coffee shop could do the same for you.
-
You could also see if any local food outlets such as sandwich shops would be willing to use paper bags with your information on them. The great thing about this idea is that business owners will often be willing to agree because it means one less thing that they have to pay for.
-
Are there any local celebrities that could be persuaded to be photographed in your popup shop, or who could comment about you on their site or blog?
-
Can you think of any events which you could hold in your space to encourage people who would otherwise not be in your store? For example a charity bake sale, a live music event, a craft event etc.
-
Contact your local chamber of commerce to see if there are any business or networking events that you could attend.
-
If your popup is in support of an online retail space, or is intended as a triall for a more permanent store you will want to make sure that you do not waste the brand awareness or customer loyalty that you have managed to create. Getting contact details such as email addresses from customers can be a great way of making sure that you have a way to contact them with further developments about your business. Customers will be unlikely to want to hand over their email address without good reason, so create fun ways to extract this information such as competitions, giveaways and promotions.
-
Make sure that the storefront of your popup shop features something striking which will immediately grab the attention of passers by and encourage them to take a closer look. Remember that you do not have to have a huge budget in order to create a beautiful and striking image - use your creativity.
As with all of our popup related pieces, we really could go on and on with this one, but then we would have no time to write anything else! So, we hope that you have found this basic guide to marketing your popup shop useful and keep an eye out for another popup post coming soon!
