How to Accelerate Your Interim Portfolio

by Startacus Admin
Working as an interim can be a rewarding job role. However, you will face a lot of competition when applying for roles. So, if you want to stand out and improve your chances of landing your dream interim jobs, you’ll want to ensure you have the right skills.
There are a number of things you can do to boost your interim portfolio. Here, we’ll look at some of the most effective ways to make you a more attractive candidate.
Ensure you have the right skills
The first thing you should do to ensure you stand out is assess your current skills. There are certain skills that every interim manager needs for example. These include:
- Change management
- Communication skills
- Adaptivity and flexibility
- Strategic thinking
If you can strengthen these skills, it’s going to make you a much stronger applicant. Furthermore, being able to show you can utilise these skills outside of the workplace is also going to help you on your CV.
Expand your HR network
Often, it’s who you know that makes a difference in the world of business. So, if you’re looking for new opportunities, you’re going to want to expand your HR network.
You can network both online and offline. You can use online forums to discuss industry events and issues. Getting your name out there and mingling with influencers in the industry can really help you to find new opportunities and develop key relationships.
Grow your CV
If you want to bag that dream job, you’re going to need your CV to stand out from the crowd. One way to do this is to grow it. That is, expanding upon your skills and knowledge. You could also volunteer to gain industry experience if needed. The more you can grow your CV, the easier you’ll find it to secure work.
Consider different roles
If you’re struggling to secure a position, it could be a good idea to consider different roles. Have you thought of taking on an interim manager position for example?
While there may not be a huge level of security in interim work, it does come with a lot of benefits. For example, you will often find it easier to get HR contract jobs than full time positions. So, if you’re in need of work, an interim position can be a great thing to consider. Plus, there is always the chance the company loves you and your work and wants to keep you on full time.
As you can see, there are lots of ways you can improve your HR portfolio. The more effort you make to ensure you stand out, the more likely it is that you’ll bag that dream interim job.
