How Businesses Can Reduce the Chance of Accidents

by Startacus Admin

Clean & Tidy Work Space
One of the easiest ways to make the workplace safe is to make sure that it is kept clean and tidy at all times. Many accidents and injuries occur due to clutter, cables and wet surfaces which can lead to slips, trips and falls.
Safety & Wellness Plan
Incorporating a safety and wellness plan can educate staff on all areas of employee safety and accident prevention as well as help to keep safety at the forefront of everyone’s mind and make sure that any issues are reported.
Education
Education is also hugely important where you need to inform staff of any hazards in the workplace along with how they can carry out their role safely and while protecting themselves and others. Training is an important step in this, especially for those that carry out potentially dangerous tasks like heavy lifting. Keep in mind that accidents that were not the fault of an employee can result in legal issues so you need to make this a priority.
PPEIt is also essential that all staff have access and wear the appropriate PPE when carrying out any kind of dangerous task - you may need to teach people how to wear and use this equipment properly.
Working From Home
In 2020, many people are now working from home and it is important that health and safety remains a priority. This will involve making sure that employees have a suitable space for work and are able to work comfortably from home as well as still taking regular breaks.
In addition to this, it is also important that people are aware of the dangers around the home so that they can stay safe working remotely. The kitchen is the most dangerous space with many sharp items and where many accidents occur but people must also take great care when exercising at home which has become more common during the pandemic.
Health and safety should always be a priority for business owners, including for those working remotely so that you can help staff to work safely and with confidence each day.
