Hopin wants to be the full remote live conference platform you can count on

by Startacus Admin

Hopin is the first all-in-one live online events platform where attendees can learn, interact, and connect with people from anywhere in the world...
Last year, we wrote about Spanish startup Virtway, whose platform allows people to attend virtual conferences, seminars, job fairs, etc. from the comfort of their own homes. Such events can be too far away, prohibitively expensive, or you simply can’t spare the time to attend, but that shouldn’t mean that you are unable to get anything out of them. The more connected the world becomes, the more it will go without saying that there will be an online aspect to events.
E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) has long aired live for viewers at home to watch the various conferences and announcements along with those attending in person. TED Talks can be viewed live and are available to watch online so you don’t have to have been in the audience. These things are so normal now that for many such events, it already goes without saying that you won’t have to be there in person to attend.
London-based startup Hopin is aiming to make that the standard, and provide a platform for people to make it so. Whether bringing a remote audience to a physical event, creating a full online-only conference, hosting a training seminar, or pretty much anything else you can think of, Hopin has the platform to go far beyond a simple webinar.
Using Hopin, you can host hundreds of thousands of people, who can use the platform to split off into groups, network, watch presentations, chat and comment, create and answer polls, and explore interactive expo areas, all with a purring cat on their lap and a coffee in their hand (neither included in the signup process).
Speakers taking part in the event, whether they are there physically or only online, also have their own separate ‘backstage’ area where they can talk to the organisers and each other.
As the organiser, you have all of the options you would expect to: choose whether to charge or make the event free, bring in sponsors, access all of the presentations that were recorded during the event, and of course view detailed analytics in order to better organise the next one.
Just recently, Hopin announced that it has raised €6m in seed funding in a round led by VC firm Accel. This investment will be used to expand on the platform and their team, and to scale.
Travel is becoming more closely monitored in terms of environmental impact and, as we are seeing right now, wide-spread health concerns can easily have a severe impact on events like these, so we think that a platform like Hopin is exactly what is needed, and will only become more widely adopted...
