Greenfinity - your indoor best friend

The lowdown on Greenfinity, the smart designer system that lets you grow your favourite herbs and other plants throughout the year
Greenfinity is a herb growing system created by designer Y Quan to assist with keeping a steady supply of herbs in the kitchen, so you’re never without something to spice up your meals. The smart system allows you to grow throughout the year and always have something on hand to use while new cuttings are growing.
The grower is a simple, intelligent design that consists of a terracotta plant pot, a self-watering reservoir, and a glass tank. With your herb of choice planted in the pot, all you need to do is take a clipping and place it in one of the inlets in the tank, which is filled with water, and that clipping will start to grow roots. By the time you are in need of a new sprig of thyme or rosemary or whatever it happens to be, you have a fully grown one ready to be moved over and planted in the pot.
In this way, you can build up a healthy and plentiful herb supply, transfer the new plants to other pots, or even use the system as a way to increase the number of decorative plants and flowers you have around the house - there’s nothing to say it must be specifically herbs.
From an environmental point of view, this system helps reduce water consumption and waste from jar after jar of herbs bought from the shop. It might not save the world, but it’s a nice addition to any kitchen, and the mental health benefits of having plants around us are well known.
Y Quan put her Greenfinity idea on Kickstarter and Indiegogo to raise funding for it, with a goal of €5,000 to get it developed and into production. These campaigns ended in early June, having raised €53,683! We always love to see these successful crowdfunding campaigns, especially when they prove so popular they reach far past their goal.
