GoJoe - the social fitness app for work and play

by Startacus Admin
The fitness app that's not just about physical fitness; GoJoe helps employers to engage, motivate and connect their people across all pillars of wellbeing.
Most of us need some help maintaining a fitness programme, whether it’s relying on going to the gym with friends, or a fitness app that gamifies the process, or something our employer sets up for us. Whatever it is that works for us, if we go without it for just a short time, we are liable to fall off the wagon and abandon our fitness. Employers providing their employees with some kind of engaging platform through which to keep up with a fitness regime is a great idea and provides the opportunity for employees to help each other stick to it; however, what is provided by employers is in reality rarely engaging or inspiring.
London-based startup GoJoe wants to change this by providing employers with a way to really engage their employees in fun activities that use the devices that they already own. The platform works as a fitness tracker by connecting to these devices, or via manual data entry, and allows the creation of team-based challenges across more than 40 different types of activity. This ensures that there is always something for everyone. The idea is that there is no such thing as ‘workplace wellbeing’ - that wellbeing is something that people can and should be helped with in and out of work, and the app is designed to be something that people want to use anywhere and at any time.
It’s not just about physical fitness, though. There are four pillars to the GoJoe platform: move, fuel, rest, feel. The move part is obvious, including those challenges and tracking activities. Fuel means helping with nutrition, supplements, recipes, personal growth - fuel for the body and mind. Rest is about helping slow down and relax, get better sleep, and focus on self-care. And feel is about taking care of emotional, social, and mental health, from financial stress to relationships or loneliness. GoJoe is a comprehensive, holistic platform to support people’s general wellbeing.
Recently, GoJoe announced that they had raised £1.2 million in funding, in a round led by Superbet Ventures and included participation from Hellen’s Rock and Animoca Brands, as well as former Manchester United player Michael Carrick. This adds to previous support, including backing from Olympic, World and European gold medallist Alistair Brownlee MBE, and will help the startup to scale and expand internationally.
