GCHQ Innovation Co-Lab seeks startups harnessing data science, machine learning and AI

by Startacus Admin
The GCHQ Innovation Co-Lab, delivered by The Landing and global tech accelerator UP Ventures, is on the hunt for companies harnessing data science, machine learning and AI techniques to create real products and solutions.
Open for applications until the 27th July, the GCHQ Innovation Co-Lab is a 12-week, equity free Innovation sprint that will support innovative businesses and help them make the big breakthroughs required, providing selected teams with a unique access to GCHQ technologists, industry experts and dedicated coaches.
GCHQ is a world-leading intelligence and security agency, with a mission to keep the UK safe. They use cutting-edge technology, technical ingenuity and wide-ranging partnerships to identify and analyse threats.
Delivered mostly online but, depending on guidance, the programme may include some in-person group workshops. GCHQ Innovation Co-Lab want to find and grow companies with products that currently address any of the following questions or could do so with some collaborative development:
-
How can biased, partial or anomalous information be identified and managed while still providing valuable insights?
-
Can we use open-source data to fill gaps in our perspectives?
-
How can we automatically collect data across multiple sources, overcoming format differences and contradictions?
-
How can we deduce recommendations with appropriate measures of confidence?
Selected teams will benefit from gaining access to some of GCHQ’s world-class software engineers and technologist, tailored business and commercial mentorship, help with data integrity and scaling, help with the commercialisation of their product or service, the chance to showcase their offer to senior industry and investor leaders and and the benefit from brand association to stand out from the crowd.
To qualify for the programme you must be able to demonstrate that you have a product that can be piloted in a structured way in collaboration with 3rd parties, that you can commit to the mainly online dynamic learning journey over the 12 weeks, and that you have the internal resources, such as a dev/design team to rapidly improve your product or service during the programme.
This is a UK wide call-out, but companies who are based in the North-West England region or have a commitment to working or expanding into the North West region are actively encouraged to apply.
Applications close on 27th July, with interviews taking place over the first two weeks of August, and the selected cohort starting w/c 31st August.
This programme does not offer a specific solution or product validation, or cybersecurity solution expertise or validation from GCHQ. For companies seeking to gain traction in the Cyber Security sector or seeking cybersecurity expertise, you will be redirected to the NCSC-led Cyber Accelerator based in Cheltenham.
