The Melbourne-born and London-based edtech startup that's bringing universities and tech companies together to help close the global digital skills gap

Fourth Rev logoThe pandemic has significantly boosted people’s need and desire for online learning. Not just learning a new language or how to play guitar, but learning that can lead to qualification and a job.

Today’s startup says that 67% of big employers around the world are unable to fill their digital job openings, yet continued digitisation is on track to create up to 50 million new jobs over the next 9 years. It’s safe to say, then, that we need to do what we can to help people to learn these much needed skills and get them into these jobs, while taking into account this new push for online, remote learning.

By placing their platform at the intersection of higher education and employment, and bringing the two into collaboration, the startup hopes to essentially create their own category of education, and their partnership with names like GitHub, AWS, and SalesForce shows that they aren’t the only ones with faith in this new approach. Higher education partners, currently numbering 11, include the University of Coventry, the University of California, Irvine, RMIT, and the University of Canberra.

In February, FourthRev announced that they had closed a £2.3 million seed funding round led by US education specialist VC, Reach Capital. This adds to the AUD$800,000 that they raised at the same time last year for their pre-seed round. This funding will go towards doubling their current team across the UK, Australia, and the US, and to build their global partnerships so that they can offer more learning experiences to more people around the world.
