Football Whispers, the world’s first transfer predictor scores big at Sports Technology Awards

by Startacus Admin

Football Whispers, the world’s first transfer predictor that puts 'science behind the rumour', was last week awarded with Outstanding Startup at the prestigious Sports Technology Awards.
Based in Milton Keynes, the Football Whispers team have developed Football Whispers from initial concept to two million users per month in less than two years. With the help from the University of Sheffield Department of Computer Science, SportTech startup Football Whispers developed a unique algorithm to take all of the transfer rumours and calculate the real likelihood of each rumour happening. Within a year of launch, Football Whispers had processed over seven million rumours, from which 9,000 transfers have actually completed and over 115,000 false positives have been identified.
Now, Football Whispers not only ranks transfer rumours with its FW Index, but also powers content for media giants Sky Sports, ESPN and The Sun.
The Sports Technology Awards, now in its fourth 'cylcle', attracts entries from over 30 countries, representing around 70 sports and over 100 brands across 19 award categories, and aim to celebrate breakthrough technologies in sport.
Football Whispers Vivion Cox, CEO, commented: “We feel proud and privileged to have won such an esteemed award. Nominations were from across the globe and the other companies in the shortlist were exceptional so we were really surprised to win.
“Our team has grown considerably at Football Whispers over the past 12 months and the passion from within the team to make a great sports tech company hits new levels daily, so this award really means so much to everyone at Football Whispers.”
Congrats to the team on the award and we look forward to hearing more about Football Whispers as their audience, business and team continues to hopefully grow.
