FLYT - the startup booking solution for helicopter charter set to take off

by Startacus Admin
We’re liking the sound of FLYT - a startup platform aiming to make booking direct and high-speed travel by helicopter available to anyone. Having recently graduated from the 11th Ignite Accelerator cohort, and received backing from Apadmi Ventures, we thought it about time we took stock on FLYT whilst very much on our radar....
FLYT is an online booking solution for helicopter charter...
FLYT provide instant quotes and journey times from partner operators - derived from analysis of data from thousands of UK helicopter flights. Journeys can be booked via the FLYT website, and via the 'coming soon' mobile app.
It’s a pretty simple process - just enter your destination and where you want to travel from, the date and time, and then submit. FLYT will then provide you with relevant quotes from their partner helicopter operators - which you can book via the FLYT site - all in one foul swoop.
FLYT was founded by experienced entrepreneur Andy King, who after selling his previous tech startup, decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a helicopter pilot. Whilst completing his training, he realised just how outdated the helicopter charter industry is - quotes are calculated using maps and pieces of string, and often sent out via fax.
Step forward the concept for FLYT, that Andy, on his return to the UK launched, with the aim of making helicopter charter accessible to anyone - and in essence as easy to book as a taxi or train.
Over 8 million hours are flown by helicopter every year, but few travellers realise just how affordable and convenient helicopter charter can be. In many cases, helicopter charter is comparable in cost to train travel or budget airline flights. FLYT is on a mission to make helicopter travel accessible, and as everyday as booking a train or a flight.
Founder and CEO Andy King said, “Many people have the idea that helicopter travel is for the likes of the rich and famous only, but this is definitely not the case. Helicopter travel is fast, easy and efficient, and has a whole host of benefits - no lengthy check in process, being able to land almost anywhere, and of course, looking cool!
Helicopter travel is surprisingly affordable, even beating Eurostar on price on occasion, so more travellers need to realise that it is an option”.
Having now recently graduated from the 11th Ignite Accelerator cohort, and received backing from Apadmi Ventures we look forward to hearing more about FLYT as it continues it’s startup journey...
