Firstbase - the remote team management solution

by Startacus Admin
Firstbase is a startup that helps employers setup, manage, maintain and retrieve all the physical equipment their remote workers need to do great work at home
For obvious reasons, we have written about a few startups over the last year whose focus is on helping to make remote working easier, more comfortable, and more productive.
There are plenty of pros and cons to having to work from home - no one else is drinking your coffee and the purring cat makes for a relaxing backdrop, but it’s also easy to feel disconnected from your work, as though your workday is actually a day off that you’ve had to grudgingly do some work catch-up on.
The environment you work in is important not only in the mindset it promotes but also, of course, in comfort. No one wants to be sitting on that wooden dining chair all day every day, working on a laptop balanced on their knees. As is often the case, startups have come to rescue.
Another great example of this is Aberdeen- and New York-based startup Firstbase, whose platform allows businesses of all sizes to set up, manage, and maintain all of the physical furniture and equipment that their employees working remotely need.
Whether it’s a comfortable chair, an adjustable desk, a lamp, or a laptop and monitor, Firstbase handles the deployment of these assets to the workers’ home, sets them up where necessary, and then handles any maintenance, upgrades, and removal when that worker goes back to the office or leaves the company. This takes away the headache from both the employer and the employee.
The pandemic has accelerated the uptake of remote working by an estimated 15 years, and this is perhaps reflected in the startup’s funding. Founded 6 months before the pandemic began, Firstbase raised $2 million in a seed round in August 2020, led by Alpaca VC. Then, in April 2021, they announced that they had raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with B Capital Group and Alpaca VC again.
This will assist the startup in its plans for growth, which will in turn assist potentially millions of remote workers and their employers.
