West Cork-based startup Riley launches crowdfunding campaign to support growth of its eco-friendly period product service and hits six figures in less than 24 hours
A new Irish startup that offers an eco-friendly period product subscription service has just launched a crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. Founded by the all female team of Aine Kilkenny, Fiona Parfrey, and Lauren Duggan, Riley’s mission is to ensure their period products do as little damage to our environment as possible by bringing periods into the 21st century.
Started just 6 months ago, the company has seen great success serving customers via their online store and is on track to help with over 5,000 menstrual cycles by the end of the year. Riley has also begun supplying corporates and universities with period products for their bathrooms, including contracts with Vodafone and Munster Technological University.
Shipping across thirty countries, the Riley team now wants to focus on growth overseas, initially starting with increasing their presence in Western Europe. And to help them do that, they are raising €250,000 via crowdfunding on Seedrs. The funds will be used to expand their team, develop more products, and also support a large digital marketing campaign. Although the crowdfunding campaign is not yet live, it has already secured over €100,000 in funds via Riley’s network and customer database. Should they hit their target, the campaign will potentially go into over-funding.
Fiona Parfrey, Riley co-founder said: “We’ve got big ideas and big ambitions! Myself and my co-founders have quit jobs, sold homes and sold businesses to self-fund Riley to date. We’re on a mission to build a global lifelong brand for female health. The funds we raise from our crowdfunding campaign will allow us to kick off our growth plan and we’re delighted to see people getting behind us.”
It’s fantastic to see a business like this emerging from an idea that was conceived in the midst of the pandemic. We’re sure that this is only the beginning and we’ll be hearing a lot more about this fab Irish startup.
If you’d like to find out more and of course support them, you can check out their crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs.
Best of luck to the Riley team!
