EUvsVirus Pan-European Hackathon to address COVID-19 challenges

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on EUvsVirus, the pan-european hackathon that's aiming to tackle some of the key challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic
Over the last few weeks we have seen many examples of creativity, innovation and collaboration from both individuals and organisations who have all risen to the challenges presented by the COVID-19. And we are set to see a lot more, thanks to the pan-European hackathon that is set to take place later this month. Hosted by the European Commission, in partnership with the EU member states, the EUvsVirus hackathon will see the virtual coming together of civil society, innovators, investors and partners from across Europe all coming together virtually with the aim of developing innovative solutions for coronavirus-related challenges. And yes, happy days, it seems that the UK can still take part.
Want to get involved? Here’s how you can do just that:
You can register to take part in the EUvsVirus hackathon as a “problem solver”, a “mentor” or a “partner” until the application closing date of 19th April and the hackathon itself will take place between 24th and 26th April.
The challenges to be hacked are in the following key categories:
Health & Life
Challenges here will address a range of health initiatives, including hardware, supporting frontline health workers, scaling telemedicine, contact tracing/containment strategies as well as the fragmentation of current efforts.
Business Continuity
These challenges will address the problems that many businesses, especially startups and SMEs, are facing to stay afloat, restructure or develop new business models.
Social & Political Cohesion
Within this category, the aim is to address and scale a range of social and political initiatives to support citizens as such, communities, democracy, EU values and fundamental rights.
Remote Working & Education
The challenges in this category are varied - from looking at how we can keep social bonds strong under the pressure of being confined to our homes through to how remote working can be addressed in a better and more impactful way.
Digital Finance
Challenges here will address the identification of financial shortfalls as well as how to speed-up the access to and distribution of financial support.
Other
This category is all about being creative and coming up with solutions to any other challenge related to the COVID-19 crisis.
There are only a couple of days left to register so why not do it now. After all, we all should play our part in the fight against COVID-19.
