Ethos - the social network for inclusion, ideas and innovation

by Startacus Admin
ETHOS is a London-based social media startup that's on a mission to empower one generation to create a better future for the next.
Social media is a place of extreme dichotomy; a place where the most hideous hatred and the most caring and supportive messages and mindsets are spread. It is a thing that can be used to affect areas of great importance and of no import whatsoever. Information and ideas can be disseminated in a matter of minutes or hours to a huge user base. What if, rather than releasing the Snyder Cut or sparking global discussion about award ceremony slapping, that ability was used for good; to have a positive impact on the world?
London-based social media startup Ethos has built a social media platform, The Ethos Network, that focuses on establishing a community of young activists. Social media has always been a good way for social activists to connect and spread word of the issues they care about, and a platform specifically for them to connect and turn ideas into action is likely to be a powerful tool.
Although it isn’t designed to be an echo chamber, the platform can be a place for people to network with others of similar interests and connect with causes they care about without also having to deal with trolls and anti-science social media users with little better to do than pick fights online. Due to concerns over privacy and transparency caused by revelations of certain social media platforms’ methods and dealings, the majority of the population do not trust social media, and so The Ethos Network aims to capitalise on that as well. The platform’s 40,000+ downloads during its 2020 1.5-month beta release suggests that it is well positioned to do so.
In May, Ethos announced that it had raised £1.5 million in a seed funding round, adding to the £300,000 raised in 2020. This funding will go a long way to help the platform grow.
