Equine MediRecord makes medical admin for horses less of a hurdle

by Startacus Admin

Completing the obligatory medical admin for horses could have just become a whole lot easier thanks to Irish startup Equine MediRecord.

As well as adding unnecessary time onto their workload by hand-writing this data for each horse every day, these books can be easily damaged or lost when on the move. In a multi-billion pound industry where these horses are on the move a lot of the time, this method becomes inefficient.
Kildare-based Equine MediRecord was developed to solve these problems.
Founded by Pierce Dargan and Simon Hillary, this easy to use app allows trainers to keep a secure database for their horses, stored in the cloud where it can’t be lost, and which can be updated in real time by themselves and vets as medicines and vaccinations are administered.
As well, regulations around certain medications can change, and different jurisdictions around the world have different rules concerning them, so having an app that notifies trainers of changes in regulation is invaluable and makes it easier to keep on top of compliance.
The app features other useful aspects, such as keeping the horses’ locations up to date as they move between vets and stables, and easy export of data means that when a horse is sold, the new owners have no doubt about its history.
Equine MediRecord is the first system to be accepted by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board and the British Horseracing Authority. From the start, the system has been supported by horse trainers and vets, who have helped to make the app as user-friendly as possible, with all of the functionality they need.
Such a useful digital system, targeted at trainers of over 16 million horses across North America and Europe, made for a worthy recipient of the Business All-Star in Regulatory Technology accreditation at the Audi All-Ireland Business Summit in April, the Overall Winner of Best Startup Serving the thoroughbred industry at the ITBA Expo 2018 and one of eight finalists of the Dublin based Google Adopt a Startup programme - which was eventually won by Terra Liquid Mineral.
This is one startup that deserves a good pun of some kind about being fast out of the gate...
