Education innovation of the CENTURY

by Startacus Admin
CENTURY is an EdTech startup that believes that "every learner deserves an educational journey that’s tailored to suit their own personal needs".

The platform, CENTURY, uses artificial intelligence, neuroscience, and learning science to adapt to students’ needs and to collate assessment data for teachers in the most useable way it can.
It takes into account all sorts of factors that contribute to learning, including the individual’s pace of learning and ability to focus. It will also look for gaps in knowledge and assess why a student may be having trouble with a particular subject.

CENTURY allows students to view their own analytics, to see their progress and averages and weaknesses, etc. This allows them to determine for themselves what they need to focus on rather than waiting for teachers to bring it up with them.
These analytics mean that teachers can better tailor their classes to the specific students they are teaching. If those analytics show that everyone is doing well with a particular aspect of the subject, they can move on to cover a topic everyone is struggling with in more depth.
And because teachers simply don’t have the time to give feedback each student in class, they can leave audio and video for students on their dashboard, meaning they can address issues they encounter in the student’s answers in a more detailed way than the 3-4 word, red-pen corrections we always used to see on our homework, but without using up significantly more of their own time.
CENTURY Tech’s founder, Priya Lakhani OBE, saw a well deserved win as Innovator of the Year at last week’s Women in IT Awards. She and her team at CENTURY Tech have created a hugely important tool for both sides of the learning process, that addresses different learning speeds and capabilities without the arguably discriminatory grouping that we often use in schools. This can only spread further and see more and more success. And we’re happy to watch.
