Drover offers cars by subscription

by Startacus Admin
Drover - the startup that offers all inclusive car subscriptions for everyday and private hire drivers across the UK.

Anyway, the point is insurance is expensive; fuel, repairs, tax...let’s just say being a driver is expensive. For many people it is a necessity more than it is a luxury, but what if it’s a short term necessity and you don’t want - or can’t afford - to buy a car, get it insured, taxed, and MOT’d when you’ll be cycling or skipping to work the rest of the year? What happens when the cost outweighs the benefit?
London-based Drover could be the answer. Via either a monthly rolling subscription or a minimum commitment subscription, you can get a subscription car!
This means that you can leave the insurance, tax, maintenance, repair, and even breakdown cover to Drover and get on with the actual driving. You’ll need to pay for fuel, but you’ll get discounted prices thanks to Drover’s partnership with BP.
If you feel like a change, you can even swap the car every month. This frees you from the normal long-term commitment of car leasing, as the discounted minimum subscription option starts at just 2 months.
Highlighting just how useful investors feel this service can be, Drover’s seed round raised £2m from Version One and Forward Partners, and then went on recently to raise another £5.5m from investors including BP Ventures, Cherry Ventures, and Partech Ventures.
This encouraging investment suggests Drover’s model has plenty of mileage in it... :)
