Drop - the virtual wine cellar app

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on Drop, the tech-enabled virtual wine cellar that offers expertly curated wine delivery within the hour that has just smashed its Seedrs crowdfunding campaign
Ever wished you could order a bottle of wine to your home just as easy as you can order a pizza?
Well the good news is that it’s possible, thanks to innovative startup, Drop.
Drop is a virtual wine cellar delivering quality on-demand wine to wherever you are at the push of a smartphone.
Drop was founded by successful restaurateurs and wine enthusiasts Ian Campbell and Will Palmer, whose establishments include Covent Garden’s Seafood restaurant Parsons, The 10 Cases Bistro and Wine Bar and The Drop Wine Bar on Drury Lane, which is from where the delivery service first began. Although the delivery service was first launched in 2016, it has seen sales rapidly increase with a 300% YoY increase in January 2021.
And this growth in sales and popularity has been further amplified by the startup’s recent crowdfunding success. With a few days still to go on its Seedrs campaign, it has exceeded its £300,000 equity crowdfunding target and has plans to overfund to £500,000.
Right now, Drop can be used in London only, however the hope is that this funding will enable it to expand across the UK, primarily through a franchising strategy. In addition, the funding will be used to further develop the AI capabilities of the app and invest in marketing to support the national expansion.
Having such a successful crowdfunding campaign is certainly proof that the support is there for a service like this and we reckon it won’t be too long before we’ll all be able to avail of Drop - no matter where in the country we may be!
