The online platform share health resources between patients, doctors and healthcare organisations launches a £1M UK funding round
News today from Doctorpedia, the world's largest network of over 2,000 medical websites - providing a safe and informative platform to share health resources between patients, doctors and healthcare organisations that it has just launched a £1M UK funding round on Crowdcube.
The funds raised will be used to further establish Doctorpedia in the UK through doctor engagement and content creation, as well as sales and marketing, further supporting the business’ mission to provide everyone with free doctor-approved health information and resources.
Pracha Eamranond, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Doctorpedia comments; “We believe that our professional platform can significantly reduce pressures on the NHS by empowering people to learn more about their own health conditions by accessing over 2,000 high quality doctor-led videos.
“We have already raised £2.5M from our doctor community and angel investors but we want this to be a platform for everyone and allow more people to share in our success. The purpose of this crowdfunding campaign is to open up investment to individuals who want to help shape the future of digital healthcare and help us deliver on our important patient-centric mission.”
During the height of the pandemic, over 25% of the most viewed YouTube videos on COVID-19 contained misleading information and top links on other common diseases contained misinformation in 40% of cases. Doctorpedia is working to solve this problem by creating a unique, safe and informative place to share health resources between patients, doctors and healthcare organisations.
The online healthcare platform produces and delivers bite-sized medical and wellness videos with leading doctors. The videos are designed to be watched on demand from any device. Setting them apart from other medical websites and forums, Doctorpedia offers quality, transparency, relevance, and control for every healthcare consumer at each stage of their health and wellness journey.
Every Doctorpedia condition site is curated and approved by leading generalist and specialist doctors. Users can trust the content and resources because they can see the credentials of the doctors who are providing it. All doctors are board-certified leaders in their field and associated with well-regarded institutions.
It is hoped that the successful expansion of Doctorpedia’s network across the UK will enhance and support those services offered by the NHS, which has been put under enormous pressure since the outbreak of the global pandemic.
Pracha Eamranond explains; “Now more than ever, patients are looking for health information online. As a result, there is an influx of misinformation out there and this is something that we are working really hard to combat. Our robust, premium technology platform brings together the best of technology, media, and healthcare, to offer a solution during these challenging times as health systems struggle to educate their patients through conventional modes of communication. Doctorpedia aims to put patients and practitioners at the heart of a community where patients can seek advice, and experts in their field can share their knowledge and expertise.”
