Dines - the restaurant app to help save you money

by Startacus Admin
It wouldn’t be controversial to claim that many people like to eat out, and getting good deals on those meals and saving money is always a big plus. Many people also like to help others, especially underprivileged children.
We wrote recently about The Dealer, the startup promoting discounts as local venues in return for users helping to fight homelessness. This time we have a similar startup, but helping to feed underprivileged children in their place of education.
Dines is a new London-based startup working with local restaurants to bring exclusive discounts to users who might otherwise not even know that restaurant exists.
The app lets the user search for venues based on location, type of food, price range, or rating, allowing you to discover new restaurants and cuisines to try. Payment is done through the app, which allows you to split the bill, tip the staff, and will apply the discount currently on offer, keeping things simple and quick. Every time you do this, you earn points (called dines) to later cash in for free food and drink.
Dines enables restaurants to highlight themselves to new diners, increase the likelihood of filling their seats in otherwise quiet times, and help to do good at the same time. Restaurants create their own deals to offer through the app, and they can do so based on market insights and data collected by the app.
Crucial to Dines is the fact that every time a user eats out through the app, the startup donates a school meal to a child in need through Mary’s Meals. There’s nothing like a tech-for-good startup, and one that is doing its part to build a world free from hunger is certainly one worth paying attention to.
