Digital Shoreditch 2013 Festival

by Startacus Admin
With a vision to emulate the success of SXSW, the music, film, and interactive conference and festival held annually in Austin, Texas, Digital Shoreditch, the London based Festival, is back, even bigger and bolder than before. An exciting prospect - one which we thought we’d find out a little more about.
We’ve got to confess at this point - we do have a bit of a vested interest in the Digital Shoreditch Festival - we have after all been selected to speak at it! We’ll be speaking about Startacus - where we’ve been and where we’re planning to go with this self start society. Although the festival takes place over 12 days between Monday 20th to Friday 31st May, we actually appear and exit the stage on Thursday 23rd May during the Capital and Growth themed day at Shoreditch Town Hall. Anyhow, enough about us, what is this festival all about?
In the words of the organisers via the Digital Shoreditch website:
“Digital Shoreditch celebrates the outstanding creative, technical and entrepreneurial talent of East London and Tech City*. We run monthly meetups, an enormous annual festival of the most talented digital and technical creatives, a comprehensive directory, hackathons, and more.”
*And beyond! We aren’t part of the East London collective :)
There will be a humongous number of speakers and sessions - 400 sessions planned to date, a digital playground, themed days, workshops, meetups, food, music and and chat. The events mainly happen in and around the vibrant Shoreditch, Clerkenwell and Brick Lane areas and with all this energy, performance and engagement it is inevitable that some valuable meetups, partnerships and business relationships will result.
Themed days cover subjects as varied as What Tech City?, Tomorrow’s World, Future Brands, Capital and Growth and Behavioural Design. There will also be a mammoth Make & Do weekend. The whole event will enable all those involved in a Tech space, be they a fledgling startup or an experienced tech head to feel comfortable and catered for.
Celebrating outstanding creativity is the Festival tag, and we look forward to playing our small, but hopefully significant part in the proceedings.
We look forward to seeing as many of you there on the days we can make it!
