Digital Innovation Competition- Game On!

by Startacus Admin
If there's one market whose duty it is to stay at the cutting edge of innovations in digital technology its the gaming industry. Those of you who are familiar will know that the key international players in this sector are engaged in an unending technological arms race which drives innovation and development forward at an astonishing pace.
But even with their impressive manpower and near inexhaustible funds the giants of the gaming world sometimes find themselves scratching their heads in bewilderment at some of the problems they face... and that is where you come in!
IC tomorrow has just launched its `Digital Innovations Contest for Games` which tasks digital businesses, start-ups and innovative individuals with the worthy challenge of finding solutions to some of the gaming industry's most prolific challenges.
The Challenges
The UK's biggest tech and gaming brands including Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Crytek UK, Intel, Google Chrome, ODEON Cinemas and Pinewood Studios have put their heads together and identified 5 challenge categories to test the brainpower of the industries most promising up-and-comers. The challenge areas are; second-screen use in a game, new markets and perceptual computing, wider games distribution on mobile web, open street-map data and games and cinema.
What you could win?The 5 smart cookies who manage to put forward the best solutions to these challenges will be given an award of up to £25,000 for the development of a prototype service or application to try and bring their great idea to life. What's more all winners will retain the intellectual property rights to their idea and receive continuing support from IC tomorrow and their tech partners through the development of their product or service.
How to apply
Prototype proposals can be submitted via the innovateuk.org website where you can also find detailed summaries of the 5 challenge areas and the terms and conditions of entry.
The deadline for applications is the 16th October so there’s still plenty of time to get on your thinking cap, or scarf, or glove or any other intellectually stimulating item of clothing you wish and put forward an inventive idea.
