DELLI - the innovative new food marketplace

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on DELLI, the platform connecting passionate, independent food and drink producers with a community eager to try new things.
Food. We suspect everyone can agree that it’s nice and we need it. Some people, you may have noticed, go a little further in their love for food, and they want to share that love with other people who feel the same. They want to share their recipes and learn new ones from others. They want to try new foods and drinks from other people with the same passion. They want to immerse themselves in a community that revolves around it.
London-based startup DELLI has created the means for these people to do this. DELLI is a food-lover’s community platform and marketplace rolled into one, aimed at being a source of inspiration, connection, and a supportive network for everyone with a passion for good food and drink.
DELLI is a place to share the stories behind these creations and to follow the journey of individuals, small independent brands, and local restaurants. As well as a place for people to share recipes and talk about their adventures in food, ask for advice, and everything else people tend to do in a community, the platform can be used for selling your food and drink - whether it’s pies, cakes, chocolate, olive oil, or anything else you make - to those who will appreciate it the most.
Because sustainability is at the core of the startup, and food waste is a big challenge in the food industry, DELLI works in ‘drops’, limited-quantity and limited-time product releases that allow makers to generate some buzz around their releases and get them out to people without wasting ingredients.
In December, DELLI announced that it had raised €2.9 million in a seed round led by HV Capital. This comes hot on the heels of DELLI’s CEO, Simon Beckerman, selling his previous startup, Depop, to Etsy in June (which was als invested in by HV Capital).
