Cooler Future - Europe’s first climate impact investment app

The Finnish fintech startup that lets you become an investor and help fight climate change at the same time
Every year, we get closer to the cut off point that we’re told there will be no coming back from the environmental destruction we have wrought. It’s close, and it’s not going away.
Startup after startup is popping up with different ways of combating our impact on the environment, trying to think how to entice people to want to prevent the Earth from slipping over the precipice and into that irreversible fall. At the same time, people want more money. That might not seem like a particularly good segue or even connected statements, but what if those things could be connected? What if we could save the world by making money?
Berlin-based, Finnish fintech startup Cooler Future thinks the two can be combined so that anybody can become an investor and fight climate change at the same time.
The startup has created Europe’s first climate impact investment app, where users can invest in a climate-friendly way, and see the environmental impact of every penny they put in alongside every penny they are making. Cooler Future will use traditional and more modern methods of analysis to determine what companies should be backed, but eventually, they aim to exclusively offer investments in sustainable companies and projects. As well as this, they hope to encourage this kind of impact investing among others outside of their own startup and make it a new normal.
In November, Cooler Future announced that it had raised €1.4m in funding in a round including investors such as Lifeline Ventures and Nordic Makers. This will go towards further developing this first of its kind app and, ultimately, saving the world!
