Chilli Connect - the SaaS platform that simplifies game development

by Startacus Admin

The Scottish startup Chilli Connect, that's on a mission to help games developers build, monetise and operate live games...

These games that are wholly online are a big thing at the moment, but even before those, games like World of Warcraft - another one everyone’s heard of - were quietly swallowing up people’s evenings and weekends. They’re not going anywhere. Online games have an extra layer of requirements that put pressure on the developers and any failure to timely meet these requirements results in angry players, sometimes out of pocket.
In order to keep on top of everything, powerful tools are necessary. Rather than creating their own from scratch, wouldn’t it be good if developers could adopt a tried and tested, trustworthy platform that lets them get running right away?
It just so happens that Edinburgh-based tech startup Chilli Connect has developed such a platform. Already boasting high profile clients such as publishing giant Activision, Chilli Connect provides an all-in-one toolkit that gives developers everything they need to maintain their live games, from analytics to leaderboards to managing players’ accounts and game economy.
It is created by a team with game development knowledge, and that has helped them to create a product that is easy to understand and can be set up in minutes, and is easily integrated into anything from the high end game engines like Unreal to Android devices to the simplest platforms like Facebook.
Chilli Connect includes out of the box support for the most common features and can be quickly customised for whatever a game needs. It is a backend proven to scale to millions of players and will support any game as it grows towards that kind of player base.
The startup is one of the first four Scottish startups invested in by Techstart’s new Scottish venture capital fund, from which they raised more than $450k in seed. This funding has already been used to add dedicated sales and marketing capability and they are now seeking to double the size of their current development team.
They are situated in Techstart’s new Edinburgh office, and given how good Techstart has been for startups in Northern Ireland, we don’t think they could be in better hands to get ahead of the game!
