Caroo aims to turn recruitment on its head - Pies, Pooches and Machine Learning!

by Startacus Admin

The lowdown on Caroo, the Manchester-based startup that is shaking the recruitment sector up, by doing everything differently...
Gareth Peterson is a self-confessed geek and managing Director of Caroo. He eats recruitment agencies for breakfast and is disrupting the sector with a platform designed perfectly for the passive candidate where they can add their data in six taps, powering an algorithm that will recommend roles and brands based on core skills and interests," he said, adding that this removes middlemen and "irrelevant" email alerts It’s users interact with the system the machine learns more about them and improves the matching algorithms.”

Caroo launched last earlier this year in the North West and Yorkshire and will expanding into the rest of the UK during 2020.
"The recruitment sector hasn't had its AirBnB moment yet," said Peterson.
Boasting clients including Adidas, AO, Missguided and The Hut Group – it’s clear that Caroo has made a big impact on the region.
"There is a significant opportunity to not only keep an eye out for relevant jobs on behalf of our users but also to help them document their careers and support their progress all from their mobiles."
Gareth has also used unusual brand campaigns to captivate his audience which include Project Pooch, where they released 20 dogs into Missguided’s offices to support their wellbeing programme. Project Pie, where they delivered summer treats (pies!) to in-house recruitment and talent teams across the North West to some of the UK’s biggest brands. Gareth likes pies!

“Candidate profiles are anonymous, and we don’t collect data on gender, age, race etc – it’s purely down to your skills, interest and experience. It’s clear that companies like our no b******t approach and that’s why we’re seeing the level of results already.”
“We truly believe that this app will revolutionise the recruitment industry and we couldn’t be prouder to be operating it all from the North-West and showing the rest of the country how it’s done."
With over 250 businesses and 10,000 candidates already signed up to newly launched Caroo app, it’s safe to say that the team behind it have hit the North with full force. The app is free for all candidates and is also free to any businesses within the North West and Yorkshire until April 2020.
Caroo does things differently and we look forward to seeing how their expansion plans develop into 2020 and beyond...
