Innovate UK supports startup Caeli Nova with development of its breathing technology that improves oxygenation of the human body in demanding environments
Further evidence of the fantastic work that Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency is doing with the news that breathing technology startup Caeli Nova is launching its first product following an intensive research and development programme co-funded by the agency.
The patented breathing technology which has been developed by Caeli Nova can improve oxygenation of the human body in demanding environments, such as at high altitude.
By overcoming existing limitations when operating flight paths across challenging regions – such as over high terrain – the company’s launch product Cordillera enables airlines to fly the most direct routes, reducing fuel and emissions while delivering wider operational benefits for airlines and shorter flight times for passengers.
Tim Wakeford, CEO, Caeli Nova, says: “Whilst maintaining passenger safety, Cordillera affords significant cost savings for airlines from a wide range of operational gains including a reduction in fuel usage, which also reduces emissions, providing additional environmental benefits.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have received co-funding from Innovate UK. With its support – alongside the agile development approach the Caeli Nova team of medical experts and experienced engineers utilise – we were able to achieve initial regulatory approvals in less than a year. This same agility will enable us to deliver each installation quickly and efficiently.”
Following the launch of Cordillera, Caeli Nova’s patented breathing technology will be applied beyond the aerospace industry to a broader range of sectors.
