Buildots - AI and data-driven construction

by Startacus Admin
Buildots - the startup that's using AI to change how construction projects are delivered, by offering a more efficient and accurate way of working.
If you have been reading our articles for a while - and why wouldn’t you - you may have noticed the sharp increase in the number of times the startups we write about heavily feature AI.
You may have noticed that we no longer feel the need to even spell out that AI stands for artificial intelligence, because who doesn’t know that these days? Whether or not a product or platform or service needs AI, it usually has AI. AI has very rapidly become ubiquitous, making our lives a little easier, less expensive, or even safer. It can also help us to deliver projects in a timely manner without unwisely cutting corners, by keeping an eye on things to ensure that we spot issues right away and act on them, such as with today’s startup.
Tel Aviv and London construction tech startup Buildots is using AI to make building better by automatically detecting construction inefficiencies.
A hardhat-mounted camera will take 360-degree footage during a site walkthrough, which is then analysed by an AI algorithm that compares the work to the design and schedule to ensure everything is the way it should be. This ensures that you always have relevant, actionable information as soon as any discrepancy is uncovered, meaning that you are better able to deliver on time and on budget. This method also increases trust with a unified environment and means that no one is cutting corners.
Buildots was only founded 3 years ago, but is already being used, they say, by 4 out of 10 top European construction companies and ??is active on projects in the US, UK, Germany, Switzerland, China, and Scandinavia. This is in part due to a $16 million funding round last year. This August, they raised another $30 million in a Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with contributions from some returning investors including TLV Partners, Future Energy Ventures, and Tidhar Construction Group, which will be used to further their reach.
