BubbleBum Beats Off Competition at CBME in China

by Startacus Admin

Northern Ireland company Bubblebum has had its flagship product named as one of the ‘Most Innovative’ and ‘Most Attractive’ at the world’s largest trade fair for child, baby, and maternity products & services.
Appearing at the Child Baby & Maternity Expo (CBME) in Shanghai at the end of July, Derry-based BubbleBum UK Ltd introduced its flagship product to the Chinese market.
The BubbleBum Booster Seat is the world’s first inflatable car booster seat. Its innovative design means that it can be inflated when needed, or folded away to fit in a handbag or backpack when not.
The BubbleBum team of 14, which already exports to 27 countries from its Derry headquarters, has spent years preparing for their launch into China. It is the biggest challenge that the company has faced in it’s ten year history, and the next vital step in its growth into a global business.
Grainne Kelly, the company’s founder and CEO, said;
“For the past few years we have focussed on developing our key markets in the USA, UK, Germany, and France, whilst identifying and evaluating markets for potential growth around the globe. With our sales and brand profile gaining momentum in these countries, now is an ideal time to take on the challenges that China has in store for us.”
Under Kelly’s stewardship, BubbleBum has already seen widespread success in Europe and North America, becoming an Amazon best seller in the USA, and UK, and being stocked in major retailers including Walmart, Target, and Halfords.
The company’s upward trajectory has been marked by a string of design, innovation, and safety awards, with Grainne Kelly winning the 2018 Woman in Business Award in the Transatlantic Growth Awards of the British American Business (BAB). She is hoping that her company’s outward looking perspective and international experience will stand it in good stead to crack the world’s largest market.
Initial success at the CBME places the company in an enviable position from which to launch it’s Chinese growth strategy. More western businesses than ever before presented at the fair in 2019, and were amongst a total of 4700 brands vying for the attention of 90,000 trade buyers.
