Bristol's Park Street is becoming a pop up park!

by Startacus Admin
As you are probably aware (and if not, where on earth have you been?), June is our Bristol Startup month - a month when we will be dedicating an inordinate amount of space on Startacus.net to the startups, creatives, self-starters, innovators, places and events that make Bristol the startup city that it is.
But that’s still a week away from fruition so why all this talk of Bristol? By a marvellously happy coincidence on the 1st of June something truly spectacular will be taking place in Bristol city centre …something that couldn’t be more ‘up our street’ if it tried!
Isn’t it great when a plan comes together?
A park on Park Street
On the 1st of June, Park Street in Bristol will be closed to traffic and transformed into a popup park! There will be artificial grass, plants and other garden-y type things along with plenty of places for the good folk of the city to sit and relax and wile away the hours in the (hopefully) warm early summer sun.
But you needn’t simply sit and stare at the flowers (as lovely as that would be) because there will be loads of other diversions throughout the day to keep you well entertained including; three dimensional sports inspired workout sessions, cooking demonstrations from the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotels award winning chefs, salsa dancing lessons, award winning stand up comedy as well as live music, loads of theatrical goings on and much general merriment.
But why?
Well ‘why not’ is the most appropriate answer to this question… in our opinion you need no more reason than that to try out something as interesting and unusual as this. But it turns out Park Street has another very good reason for going to all this effort.
Those of you not from the Bristol area may not be aware that Park Street, once the beating heart of the city centre has been in something of a decline in recent years. The demise of the British high street is not something which we need to describe any further but ‘A park on Park Street’ is an innovative and creative way that local traders and residents are trying to reinvigorate the area and make it a key destination in the city once again.
This is just the first in a stream of high profile annual events being planned for all of the community to attend in aid of reestablishing the streets identity Of course we will keep you up to date with what else the team have got planned.
If you fancy taking a stroll in the park, on park street why not visit the website where you will find all the information that you need to plan your visit. (Fingers crossed for good weather!)
